Our Agency

HRC is a private, non-profit human service agency serving California's central Sierra Foothill communities since 1981. With passion and dedication HRC serves families, children and individuals by providing exceptional community-based programs and education.

The agency's annual operating budget is over $8 million and the agency has approximately 165 staff.

Child Care Resources

Provides information and services to families who are in need of child care, providers and business who are interested in child care, and those who need care related information in Amador and Calaveras Counties. Programs include: Child Care Resource & Referral, Child Care Subsidy Program, Child Care Initiative Project. C.A.R.E.S. Program, Parent Education and Calaveras Child Care Council.



Calaveras Head Start/State Preschool/Early Head Start

A comprehensive education program for children ages 3 to 5 and their families services include: preschool, full-day/full-year center based child care (ages 0 to 5).


Calaveras Crisis Center

24 Hour Support hotline and shelter to women who have been in a violent environment, have suffered abuse or are at risk for abuse. Sexual assault and domestic violence counseling, temporary restraining order assistance, victim advocacy, support groups, and Once Again Thrift Store.


Community Services/Food Bank

Provides a wide range of services for eligible families in Calaveras County including emergency food baskets to eligible families. rental and energy assistance, home owner assistance, and legal assistance. Also during the holidays we sponsor the Santa's Express Thanksgiving and Christmas basket drive.


Motherlode Women/Infants/Children Program

Nutrition and education programs for expectant mothers, and mothers of infants and toddlers (to age 5). Prvovides nutritional education and food vouchers to help supplement the mother and child's diet as well as defray costs of food. WIC sites are at various locations and times in Amador and Calaveras Counties.
